Buffing wheel sharpening

Several years ago I took a hand tool class from Marc Adams at MASW. His sharpening technique was to establish a bevel with a belt sander and them buff the edge with coarse compound on a fabric wheel. He said he learned this from Tage Frid, for what it is worth.

Unicorn Profile is a 20 degree primary bevel, 23 degree secondary bevel, refined back, and 0.003 to 0.005 " convex tertiary bevel .
Unicorn-Lite- Refined back and a 0.003 to 0.005 " convex secondary.
Do you have any evidence that you were establishing either of these profiles on the tool? Unicorn is not the process of using a buffing wheel with abrasive. That has been done since time. Rather it is a specific profile that delivers the benefit.
