Many thanks to John for the wagon wheel interior idea. Walnut, burnt umber artist stain, shellac.
A circular granite rock top goes on it to become a low coffee table.

57 parts counting the tenons, 32 joints and to my astonishment they all came together well

That Domino seems to be just the thing for this kind of work!
I would have had to make the posts with a 135 corner on the front so that I could mortise square to the edge faces. Looks a lot easier the way you did it!

How did you figure the compound angles for the ends of the rails? Did you align the Domino mortises with the stiles, or with the rails? What size Dominos did you use?

And you say you can't design? daughter came up with the open octagon, John provided a pictures of the spokes. I did the engineering.
How did you figure the compound angles for the ends of the rails? Not compound, just 22.5. Did you align the Domino mortises with the stiles, or with the rails? mortise is perpendicular to the face of each piece.
What size Dominos did you use? smallest

Makes me thing of Dining tables I've seen that are so fun to look at but get covered with table cloths and surround by a forest of chairs!

I am thinking this design would be nice for some sort of circular glass top table. this family eats sometimes off a small arty table I made not really best for eating off from. I am going to see if they would like a bit taller base and put a glass top on it.

I think that would make a great little table. I like that you have the rail at the top so no one will be temped to put their feet on it. Might make the rail a little wider to avoid any tendency for the table to rotate.
I have to go look, I think I have a round piece of glass around here somewhere.
