Bryan, I don’t know where in the World you are, so freight may be an issue. Also, boxing for shipment is going to be costly, so I’d suggest you look a little harder locally. Look for a stained glass artist, or learn to do it yourself. Otherwise below is a link to the company I use for most of the large glass tops I’ve used on my tables.

If the table is an"heirloom" level project, I suggest finding a source for water jet cutting that will work from a submitted full size pattern. I don't think it will be cheap.

I have been thinking about this. I am skeptical of the river tables with epoxy or whatever the resin is.

Been considering one with the glass strip. Agonizing over having the glass cut to a pattern or cutting the edges of the river straight as in a rabbet and use smokey glass or use a single piece of glass to cover the entire top.

If you use glass I think you want to fix it so it can lift out to get the crumbs out.

You might check to see if there are any specific safety requirements on the type of glass used in residential furniture. For example, I understood tempered glass was needed for glass table tops to prevent large dangerous shards in the event of breakage. Tempered glass must be cut to shape then tempered in a large furnace. Talk to local companies who prepare glass panels for showers.

You didn't define "local". If that be Pikeville, KY I am not surprised. If local is Austin,TX you didn't look hard enough. I have had no problem getting a shop in our town of 40,000 to cut any shape I wanted. I supply the pattern and they return the glass. My advice would be to expand the geography of your search.

I’ve been using Addison Glass for over 30 years including quite a bit of pattern work. Great folks to work with.
