I have used the generic copies and have yet to find one that is not crap. I've had the new DW adapter on my Amazon shopping list for at least a year now and can't quite pull the trigger on it.
>>>Rather than getting new battery innards it seems like a better idea to buy the adapter to the 20v slide in battery
I bought the Dewalt kit with charger, adapter, and two 20v lithium ion batteries. Smaller and lighter weight than the 18v batteries.
Worked great, lots of power. However, after some months both batteries quit charging to full power. Since they both started this at the same time, I wonder if the charger is the problem. I have not yet tried contacting Dewalt.
I've had better luck with 3rd party replacement batteries. I bought two of these, might get some more since I have a lot of Dewalt cordless tools.
Hello, I have the dewalt adapters and the off brand, one works about as good as the other, but if you use the adapters and leave the battery in for several days they will go dead. The 20 volt batteries are twice as strong as the 18 volt. I use dewalt because I worked in a paper mill in maintenance before I retired, we used a lot of dewalt products and beat them to death and they keep right on working!!
