Cut quality small blades

There could be a misunderstanding that small blades deliver toothy cuts. The quality of the cut depends on the quality of the blade. A $7 framing blade does most of what I need a blade to do. But rip cuts show teeth marks and cross cuts splinter some on exit.
This blade was just used to size a desk top. The pictures are from the cut-offs.
The cross cut has no teeth marks I can detect;the rip cut slight teeth marks.

That appears to be a nice blade and it sells for about $45. Freud appears to make blades that sell for about $10 and up. It would be interesting to compare some of the cheaper ones to that one.
The cuts you made appear excellent and may be "better" than required for breaking down stock.

I have a Freud 7 1/4" 40 tooth 'finish' blade, got it at Home Depot for around $20.. It works very well on a cabinet saw for cutting small items like trim, it doesn't grab like 10" blades can. I've also used it on hardwood plywood with good results.
