OT- "Green " with envy..

..I am.

Yesterday, my daughter became a proud owner of a green 96 Nissan Maxima with a dual-cam 3.0L V6.

Apparently, the last model year they were made entirely in Japan.

Her grandma finally agreed that she should no longer be driving.

As for condition, had Nissan bought it, the restoration would not have been necessary.

I was motor trend subscriber in my youth. My mother drove panther platform type cars, so no luck at home.

A friend's mother bought one of those and I remember that they had a 3 liter motor and 190 horsepower, and motor trend said they did 0-60 in 6.6 seconds at the time, faster than a mustang GT.

I was in love!

Still think that toyota/honda/nissan all had longer lasting cars when they were shipped from japan (at least on average). Some of the things that make cars more troublesome how are true across the board no matter where they're made, though (timing belts instead of chains, changing of designs instead of incremental improvement, replacement of metallic parts and lines with plastic).
