Bandsaw is working again

Johanna Johanson

My electrician came today and reconnected my bandsaw. Good timing - I need to buy lumber for the next stage of my project of building two dressers.

The cause of my bandsaw quitting was the windings in the motor. My electrician diagnosed the problem. I took to motor to a local shop the fixes motors. When I brought it home and re-installed it, I realized that had not taken notice of how the wires were connected. So I had to wait until my electrician could come by to get it going again.

It is SO nice to have a functioning bandsaw again!

Whenever I tackle some disassembly project that will end with reassembly, I try to take pictures.

I am so easily confused when it comes to reassembling. I do take pictures sometimes but better for me are labels on wires if the colors are ambiguous and a drawing of what goes where.

Yikes I'd hate to be without my shop bandsaw. I'd be forced to haul the smaller one down from the garage.

motor plate

I have never seen a motor that did not have a wiring diagram on it somewhere.

There was no wiring diagram on the motor plate nor was there one in the user manual. Lots of diagrams of all the parts, nothing on the wiring.

Re: Let me introduce you to my wife.

I don't know how many times she has come to me asked me to fix something. The something is usually some sort of household devise thatis now in a completely dissembled pile of parts. No matter what it takes to fix I still need to figure out why tab A goes into slot c after screw 6 is inserted into brace F.

I don't know why . . .

. . . my wife continues to remind me of the thing she wants fixed. I heard her the first time. She doesn't have to remind me every six months !
