Hardware help

I would like a relatively simple piece of hardware to put on a box or tray edge. Just a piece of brass or “bronze” to put on the edge. Maybe 3/4” for the slot and 3-4” long.

I searched on eBay for "brss strip" Nearly 3000 listings came up. Every width and thickness that you may want.

Do you want a flat strip or something similar to angle iron? Hobby shops carry a variety of brass strips, rods, square tubing, channel, angles, etc. but I don't know the max sizes.

I'm with the others, not really understanding just what you are wanting. What do you mean by "slot" ?

I want a 3/4” wide channel to fit over a 3/4” thick board.

One option, which is expensive:

Brass 385 (architectural bronze)....

Could get 1/2” if you want metal flush with wood.

For shop use, I wonder if a flat brass strip could be hammered into u-channel over a hardwood edge.

Might check ebay.

I could get the 1" channel which would have a 3/4" interior width. I could then saw it to length.

A bit thick at 1/8", but not too bad.

The 3/4" channel, I would have to chisel (or route) down to 1/2" thick lumber, which can be done.

I'm leaning towards the 1".

Ideally, I would like something w/ legs that are a bit longer - say 1.25" or greater - but this looks like the closest.
