Two things come to mind. Tooth set in that blade style, and stresses in that wood causing a slight side pinch in the kerf.

Since your dust problem is so significantly reduced with thinner stock than 2"......what would happen if you made a couple of passes when cutting 2"......the first pass at 1 1/2" depth.....then cut that last amount??

Check the alignment of your blade as it is short, and standing tall. It might be out of alignment with the table, causing more cutting on the back end. Verify your fence is square too.

Yup.......dust out the top is a problem with mine too.

Could be the 2 inch material is producing too much dust for the 4 inch line to handle it.

If a slower feed rate permits it to keep up then you might have overwhelmed the 4inch line.

Most DC discussions revolve around 5 inch lines for table saws.

I have the same issue when I cut thick material with my tablesaw. I have a vacuum that collects most of the debris from my saw but it doesn't work well with thick stock. However,I don't cut thick stock very often so I live with it. My suggestion is if you don't plan on cutting alot of 2" stock, let it be.

My Robland came with over-the-blade dust collection capability but it proved to be a PITA most of the time so I blocked up the ceiling dust-collector port that I had installed for it and just put up with the occasional bit of blown dust. It isn't as if my shop is every going to be clean-clean.

Builded/constructed/made underneath, a sloping dust/etc. four sided deep/tall/long THING to funnel ALL the chips from TS BLADE to 5 HP dust collector,OK. Caulked every opening under the TS's top so only air the dust collector could get was from blade opening. WORKS PERFECT. This prolly aint understandable as I went thru 6th grade, but needed to thro this in.

I looked at that idea, but my saw is a contractors saw and the entire back side is open. Looked at blocking most of it off, but the motor swings to make bevel cuts and I knew I would HATE having to remove the cover every time I wanted to make a bevel cut. So I enclosed the blade in what could be a cereal box and brought the duct out the front so the blast gate would be near the switch and easy to reach. In spite of the fact that mine is only a 1 1/2 hp dust collector it works really well getting at least 95% of the dust, except this time when the cut was really deep.

I considered suing a shop vac to suck the dist out of the gullets at a 90 degree angle or maybe a nozzle from the air compressor to blow it out, but it generally works well enough that I quit scheming.
