Bill,

The one thing that stands out in your design that no one has mentioned yet that I saw is that your doors are a different width. The styles don't align with one another, top vs bottom doors. At first, I thought that maybe you were leaving room for a turning on the ends of the frame, the reason for the wider style on the face frame itself, but you don't mention any.

I would have driven to where ever you live to take that one home, except I may not have a ceiling to accommodate it. In the next addition of Shiffer's book your's needs to replace what was in the first addition. The maker is likely listed in the book and the date could be enough to identify the maker.

2- piece? That seems a lot of door to hang from 2 hinges.

This is the first corner cupboard I have seen with a single drawer. I never considered a single drawer because I thought it impossible to incorporate one. I would like the details of the drawer interior, oral is sufficient. I am having trouble wrapping my head around a drawer that is triangular, and if triangular how was it framed below and above? I just can't come up with a picture in my head of what could be inside that works.

The piece is built in two units- an upper and lower. Those that I have seen built in two units have the top unit inset slightly from the bottom, a reasonable choice to my eye. It makes it obvious that it is a two unit affair and justifies the waist molding. Unsure of your question....did I answer it?

If you need more storage space in the drawers, what about three drawers, a traditionally supported rectangular (or even hexagonal, to get more storage at the back) drawer in the middle, and a pivoting drawer on each side with a vertical axle at the outside corner and an arched back?

I think the design motif that you are planning for the faces of these two outside drawer fronts could be repeated on the central drawer front.

If this is not clear, but interesting, I'll try to construct a drawing.

Thanks, Bill. FWIW, I got $900 from an antiques dealer for the cupboard, so it's probably worth almost twice that. Onward.

The drawer is not triangular, it is five-sided -- two short sides one short back and two 45º sides, mitered at both ends and nailed to the short sides. You could dovetail them if you are up for that challenge. I'm pretty sure the bottom was floating in a groove, but you'd need to be careful about expansion allowance because of the trapezoidal shape.

So it will be...... a wider 6 sided drawer.....dovetailed(if I can)! The half blinds will be easy And the rest don't show

Somebody is going to be very happy to get that piece.

Dowels as registration pins to hold the upper cabinet in place? Then the waist trim isn't structural.
