windows 10 or windows 7

When MS was pushing windows 10 down the throats of their users I actively resisted upgrading to the new version. Since then I am still happy with win 7 as it does everything i need it to do.

Are you trying to start WW3?
I use both but W10 on several machines but W10 is the main OS I use. Very happy with it and W7 seems a bit clunky after using 10 but it really is a matter of what you get used to - the devil you know. Both will do the job.
I've turned off the amount of "tracking" it does but other things track you anyway One thing some people don't like is that W10 updates itself whether you like it or not. This can be annoying at times but IMO it is the fault of the people who never updated their computers which caused a lot of virus issues to be spread even though patches had been released to stop them.

My wife has Win-7 - which I hate. I was a application programmer on mainframes, mini's, amd micro's for about 40 years. I liked Win-XP because I could configure it exactly the way I wanted. Win-7 has everything deeply hidden from the user.
When I could no longer run Win-XP (new computer) I moved to Win-8.1 which I love (with the Pokki Start Menu). My new netbook came with Win-10.1. I'm finding it vastly better than Win-7 even though I don't like the forced update and there isn't a Pokki start menu for it.
My biggest problem with forced updates is that my netbook is only on when I want to use it. I can delay updates till I'm through (or the next day) but I need to remember not to shut it off.

Bill, I am running W10, right after installing it (updated from Win7), I set up the updates to only install after approval. I have the updates downloaded to my drive automatically but they don't install until I approve! The options are in "Settings" ~ "Updates and security".
I do install all security updates but occasionally stop updates that are for programs or other items I don't have installed. I run Kaspersky as my virus protection and have for a year or so, I have been pleased with it.
I agree with you, after getting used to it I do like Win10 better than Win7.

Hi Larry,
Yes, I should have been a bit more specific. My internet connection was slow so the updates took time to come in and I don't think you can defer downloading like you can the installation. Also the PC tends to slow down while checking for updates.

Linux on all of our lab computers (a few thousand machines). For years, I ran a PC at work, Mac at home, and Linux machine in the lab. Our anti-Mac guy within our center finally retired a few years ago, and now the mix is moving towards 50/50 OS-X/Win 10 for laptops as the folks condemned to use Win 8, Win 8.'pardon-our-mess', and Win 10 get a choice.

Yep Win-8 sucked big time. Win-8.1, on the other hand, is wonderful with the pokki start menu.
Also - the home version of Win-10 does not allow you to not update. It forces updates. If you want to have the option of deciding when to update there is a trick but you still have to allow all updates.
If you want to only be notified that updates are available and decide which you want to install you need the pro version, not home.
