Re: How many woodworkers cook?

I enjoy cooking now because I had to learn pretty fast after my divorce, my present wife is a better cook than me but because she is still working and I'm retired I do 90% of the dinner meals.
Thanks, Bill
Easy Pizza......

Man, Bill that is some good looking pizza....
For a lazy man's version of a thin crust, use a tortilla. You can buy any size you want and buy flavored ones. Put a smear of marinara and your favorite toppings and bake it on a stone. Fast and easy, but not nearly as pretty as yours.

Careful Mr Irby, there is a certain amount of heresy wrt thin crust pizza in the Tindall domain.
If you are lazy......

....go to Dominos.
I have spent years striving to replicate what one can find almost anywhere in NY, but I don't live in NY. The Reinhart book, lessons from Mario in Oriskany Falls, NY and All Trumps flour got me there.
Don't consider calling something a "Pizza" that has none of the attributes. That goes for Chicago Pxxxx too.

You should try cooking on a pizza steel. It's a 1/4" piece of steel that you get really hot and slide the crust onto. It's like a stone but seems to transfer teh heat better.
You can buy one for $100 or make one for about $15.
It gets the crust nice and brown while not burning it. I made pizza last night.

I cook every day - but then I'm a woman.

Johanna, would it be Misogynistic to ask how many cooks are also woodworkers?

I started cooking at the age of 8 when I joined Cub Scouts. Spent 11 years as a restaurant refrigeration mechanic watching chefs cook. My wife doesn't like to cook. I do 98% of the cooking in our house. I have spent the last four years learning to cook GLUTEN FREE. What a ride!

Nope, not mysogynistic, but I'll bet it isn't all that many!
I was sad to see that the number of women in the fine woodworking program at Santa Fe Community College is down. I was the only woman in the class on veneering.

I also cook everyday - but then, I'm hungry.

I am retired but my wife is still working. She gets home around 6:00 and is hungry so I have a meal ready for her. Our friends say that is really nice. I reply I know, I get to fix what I like. There are old standbys but I search, find and prepare new recipes. If I'm not rushed I enjoy cooking.
Excellent Question
Howard in Toronto
As many here have pointed out, woodworkers tend to be process-oriented. Cooking fills that need and addresses that type of brain process. So yeah, I've noticed a lot of wwers are also into cooking. Howard
I found this interesting. "Bumping" it to see if anyone is interested in adding to it.
