Some time ago one of my "preferences" windows in You Tube set me on to BOLTR. He is a Canadian. He does various tool reviews with teardowns. He is interesting. I leave it to you to choose how to interpret that. I find him lewd, crude, rude, and socially unacceptable many times, but he does go deeper than most You Tubers with tool reviews. Warning, he might make you smile, but also offend some viewers with finer sensibilities. Still, he points out stuff I never considered before.

August 22 he posted about the Festool Track Saw TS55. Some things he liked and other things not. But it's not every video that tears down a new $1000 saw. You might want to check it out. The comments on his various reviews can provide additional information but they also sometimes get pretty visceral.

I can't get a link to work, but going to You Tube and typing in "Boltr" or "AvE" or "Festool Track Saw" should get you there.

Interesting video. I found him a little crude and off base a few times, but its interesting to see whats inside a tool.

I think you do need to take him with a grain of salt. For instance, he keeps referring to a "$1,000 circular saw". The TS 55 REQ sells for $640 in the US and

$ (Canadian) 840 in Canada.

He points out several things that he warns are bound to fail on the saw. My TS55 is about 10 years old now, has all those things, and has yet to show any problems (other than dull blades) yet.

Given the rate of Canadian penalties applied to purchases in most provinces, $840 ends up being close to $1000, ($966 in Quebec).

I agree with him about the power cord, an over engineered piece of crap. After having it disconnect umpteen times, I have attached mine permanently.

Nice to see a review by some one who actually bought the tool. It reduces the usual obsequious fluff that accompanies most Festool "reviews".

I had problems for a month or so with the first power cord disconnecting on my first Festool, before I figured out I wasn't twisting it quite far enough. Since then, for several years and a half dozen Festools, I have had no further problems. I have to disagree with your assessment of its engineering. OTOH, sometimes my Festool dust collector hose disconnects while I'm operating a tool, just like every other dust collector hose I've ever connected to a woodworking tool.
