demonstrating hollow form turning
Eliot Feldman
I have been asked to demonstrate some hollow form techniques at my turning club. The emphasis is supposed to be on various constraining rigs that I have. I'm fairly confident and have done it before. But I just know that the demo will be boring if I don't actually hollow something -- at lease part way because watching someone hollow is a bit like watching grass grow since you can't see inside the hollow form. I've been thinking about starting out with a form already turned on the outside that has multiple holes drilled into the sides so that people can see the tool cutting inside as it turns. And, of course , there's always the option of using a really big opening. A light inside is not an option for me. Any other ideas?
