That will best answer your question. I have lots of questions about exactly what this does and if I ask the gurus there I will just answers that sail right over my head.

For example, lets say you have a video of a conference speaker and you have his power point slides. You can specify when the slides should change while the video is playing. That probably doesn't sound all that hard, but if you consider that the video can be paused, jumped back or forward, etc. the powerpoint slides or images could become way out of order or sync. There are some very advanced programs that can do this or you can do it with some advanced coding, but sofie makes it supposedly easier to accomplish this without having to learn a really advanced application.

Sofie supports the following formats which are the basics:

* Text: RTF (RichText Format), TXT (plaintext format)

* Images: JPEG, GIF, BMP, PNG

* Audio: MP3, AIFF, WAV, AU

* Video: Quicktime (MOV, AVI)

So you could make a video of you turning something, and apply a voice over afterwards without theoretically going to a video editing company or using a really expensive program.

BTW, Sofie is open source which is a free license for your use.

Oh, MovieMaker.....

15 years ago MS put the free Paint program on all Windows computers.

A few years ago they put MovieMaker, which basically let's you make and edit video's easily and inexpensively (free).

It's not the best, but it's free and easy to use.
