>Normally there would be a 12" deep cabinet either to the right or left (or perhaps both) and the refer cabinet would be screwed to the cabinet beside it plus to the wall. If it is possible, I would screw it to the ceiling or soffit at the front of the cabinet. I would make sure my nailer at the back of the cabinet is pretty securely fastened to the sides and screw it to the wall at the back, having a nailer both at the top and bottom of the cabinet. If there is no wall to the left or right of the refer I would make a cabinet side that extends down to the floor; this would provide support for the cabinet plus would look better than just having the refer hang out in the open. If there is a wall to the side of the refer, the cabinet would also be screwed to this wall.

>I want it so deep so that it clears the top of the fridge. I saw one in the Fine Woodworking Built In Furniture edition and thought it was a very nice touch. There will be one cabinet on the right side but the door to our pantry is on the left,do you think having a full 3/4 construction,attaching it through the nailer to the studs and on the right side would be enough or do you think it will twist?

>We ALWAYS design for a minimum 24" deep over-fridge cabinet. One thought that comes to mind is that of the width of the fridge box. If you make it 36" wide (the opening), you will have room to change to a different fridge in the future. 36" wide x 72" high opening will do just that.
