OT - getting concrete off a rock

>Hi all. Just noticed that the guys who built my new garden wall last week spilled a little concrete on a boulder nearby. Is there an easy way to get it off? I tried a stiff brush and water, but it didn't help much.

I can't say with any certainty, but try tapping it with a hammer. The concrete should be softer than the rock and break off. I have done this successfully with cut stone, but your results may vary.

>Muiratic (spelling) acid, the stuff they use for swiming pools will take it off. start off by mixing about half and half with water. increase the acid as needed.

>I've never had a problem with muriatic in hardware store concentrations, but mixing acid and water releases heat and it can start to boil. The standard safe practice is to add the acid to the water so that any splashes will be dilute. Also wear old clothing. Even 5% HCl will leave a hole in your shirt. You dom't notice it right away, but after you wash the shirt (or pants) there are holes.
