Moisture content question?

>I have been working on some heart pine. Trying to figure out how much space to leave for wood movement. The "calculators" require you to enter the MC winter and the one in summer. Does anyone know what the moisture content of a piece of furniture would be in an air conditioned house in VA in summer?

>Barry, If this pine did not come from inside a controlled atmosphere, but had a roof over it, then it would likely be around 12%. So it is going to go down to 6 - 8%, so if you are going to use it, just make sure that it can shrink without splitting.
I would not worry about what it will be like next summer, as much as what it will sink to at this time next year.

>10% is a good guess, about 60% RH. Winter will be about 5-6%, 30-40 % RH unless you humidify.

>There is a program in the archives here that has a table of MC vs temp and humidity. It will also calculate wood movement between two points defined by either MC or Temp/Humidity.
