HELP ... Mobile Home Porch

Charles Sharp

>A lady at school has asked me to help her rebuild/replace a porch on her mothers mobile home, I'm going to look at it Sunday.

I don't know squat about mobile homes so I have a few questions:

Is the porch normally attached to the home, if so, how?

I'm guessing that the porch sits on asphalt or cement, is the porch attached to it?

What's the minimum recomended size for a porch w/ a handrail around it?

Thanks in advance,

Chuck

The best thing to do is check with the local inspector as rules on what you can and can't do vary a LOT from one place to another. If the mobile home is in a trailer park there might be some rules there as well.

>Chuck you are correct, they are seperate from the coach. It can be made flush with the door or with a step up, owners choice. The hand rail etc. should be based on local codes.

You can improve the porch by encloseing the space under the deck with a floor etc.I suggest slideing doors This will give a lot of extra storage which is at a premium for most mobiles.

Good luck
