Thats a deal, I said, oh buy the way, let me know when they are shipping the 20" planer.... we have been married 28 years, I think she knows how I am by now, LOL

>I recently purchased a very similar 17-968 variable speed unit. I assembled the base and the column on a mobile base. Then propped the unit end 18 inch off the ground. Jammed the mobile unit to prevent it from moving. Then got a friend to help me assemble it on the column and gently lift it up. The whole process took less than 1/2 hour including planning and strategizing.

Seriously I have been looking for a decent drill press in Craigs list and all I find is huge industrial 3 phase models, or some cheap no name product with no specs listed.

I finally saw this great sale on amazon about 3 weeks ago and decided to pull the trigger. The drill press just hums along without any vibration. I am so glad I finally got it.

I just got one of their tabletop DPs. It's a very good machine and I'm pleased with it.

The only problem I had was that there was a burr of metal in the table bracket that fits around the post. When I slid the bracket over and down the post it "engraved" a grove in my post. I had to take the table back off, find the burr, file it down, and put the table back on. Unfortunately the damage was already done to the post. While it looks bad, it doesn't affect raising and lowering the table. I'd suggest that you check the inside of the table bracket for any spots that might do the samt before you slide the table down the post.
