Router Bit Help...
Mike Turner
>I am in the midst of making a baby high for my new grand daughter.
I am up to the point of doing the tray..It is kidney shaped 11"x18" and 1" thick maple...
I am at the point of routing a recess in the tray top..
My question(s) 1. what router bit should I be using??? My first inclination is a straight bit set to the depth that I want to rout...
What say you??
2. because this tray in not rectangular (kidney shape) I am trying to figure out how I am going end up with a uniform width on my raised edge around the perimeter of the tray.. I am assuming that I will need to make a template to the size of my tray with a setback for the siding width and use a collar on the router plate to follow the outline of my template.
I have googled and looked in the WC archives and articles with no success.
Any pointers or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
At the rate I am going, this chair will be finished when the kid is about 12 yrs. old.
Thanks in advance..
Mike
