It's Too Cold! - complaint

Robert R Clough - Thorncraft

>I haven't been outside the house today. The temperature has bearly (and I spelled that the way I wanted to) broken 0 - it is a real brute of a windy day with wind chills of 20 below. 40 years ago I even hunted in this weather but my friend and I were the only stupids out - the game was inside by the fire. But seriously, I cannot be out for any length of time as I cannot breathe and start gasping. And I resent it. Furthermore thte shop doesn't heat well. All I can do is read. (that's a problem?)

>What you are feeling is Mother Nature's payback for the 50 and 60 degree weather we had in December and January.

>Know how you feel, Robert. I was a bit miffed today when the temp here in GA did not get above 50 like the forecast said it would. Took my outdoor glue-up job twice as long to cure. :) Charles

>Yeah Ken, I couldn't even wear shorts this weekend here in Jacksonville. :~( It's been damp and chilly, not cold mind you, but one of those chilly periods that really gets ya' Not cold enough to be inside, but not warm enough to be outside. Quite annoying. I tried to read, but couldn't sit still long enough, so I puttered about, but didn't do anything to speak of.

Robert, do you by chance smoke?

that could be a major contributor to your breathing problems in cold weather.

>I'll do two matters here, answer Todd, and say there are advantages to cold weather.

Todd, no I don't smoke - not anymore. my last cigarette was at 10pm, July 3, 1992. I still dream of smoking. I smoked for about 45 years at 3+ packs a day. I have Asthma and have had most of my life but I know that smoking was a contributor here.

Now, Sarah cooked meatloaf today, seasoned with Tobasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and Angostura bitters. With baked potato. mmm, mmm good!!

Aand tomorrow is supposed to be as bad. But the Jet Stream is shifting, according to what I read. Yes, I'm something of a weather nut.

>Todd for some of us 40 would be a beautifull day in Kansas we would be happy if it even made 35 then we could spend some quality time out side. as it is I am only going out for fire wood as it is only in the low 20's Shorts we don't need no shorts just a T shirt and flannel would be nice.

>We've only gotten down to -15 in my area of Maine. I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping for something in the -20 to -30 range so I could break my record for the coldest temperature in which I've gone camping. Personally, I like it better when it's sub zero. The snow doesn't melt on my boots and my feet don't get wet. I hate wet feet.
