>Good luck Dan,
How many doggies you got? I bet you got plenty of space heaters. What kinda heaters you got out in the shop. A few weeks ago when we lost power, if I'd had a cot, the shop would of been my (our) bedroom. Dale

Only in upper 40's tonight. Love it-- cuts down on the A/C use.

>My sister used to send us pictures of their beach parties at Christmas time when they lived in Florida. For some reason they moved back here; I can't imagine why. I think their might be enough residual heat in a house that it wouldn't get dangerously cold overnight, but I would probably be heading for a local motel. My -15 sleepig bag is not here yet; I am thinking I'll have to test it next week sometime after it arrives ;)
That's what fireplaces are for.

>The ignitor on my furnace died a couple of months ago during a cold spell. I just stoked up the fireplace (high-efficiency type) and the house actually was warmer than I normally have the thermostat set for.
Hang in there Dan

>Good News Dan ;-)) I'm still doing without, and don't expect to be up and running for quite some time yet. (March at the earliest) brrrrrrr.
Had a basement flood last May, insurance offered $5k for "clean-up", and assumed furnace was ok. I refused the settlement until the furnace was verified during heating season. I had been warned to expect corrosion since most of the electricals had been under water. Come fall, insurance sends cheque for $5K which I refused to cash. Insurance company "cancelled" my policy.
They sure love ya when you're making those payments, but when you're a "claimant", you're the dirtiest word in the industry. The entire bi-energy (oil & electric) furnace, and air-conditioning units have to be replaced. Probably around $10K.
