>I was told years ago you should not let your car idle in order to warm up. I was told that allows moisture to build up in the crankcase and cause sludge and so on. This is because, just idling, the engine can't blow stuff out. I was told this because I used to do that a lot. I used to get sludge goop. I don't do it anymore (well, I do cheat now and then). This was back in the 80's though. Maybe it's different now. I dunno. Maybe these days it's perfectly fine to do?

I'm sure somebody here that's a lot smarter than me will chime in.

Compustar is a product we use to install and dropped as they proved to be less than reliable. Compustar seems to have improved their line recently. So they may be better these days. Compustar is marketed under another name, SCOSHE. Maybe some one in your area carries it under that name. I have never heard of Mars, sounds like entry level to me. Astro Flex, Auto Start, or Directed Electronics are some of the brands we sell a lot of. All of these are marketed under various names. In the end, the product you install is not quite as important as the people installing it. Insist on soldered connections not scotchlocks and t- taps. If your explorer is newer than 1998 it will require you to have an extra chipped key FYI.

>I live about 10 minute from the highway so going to work is not a problem my truck is mormaly close to heating up. It is when I leave work I want to warm it up first. I work about 3 minutes off 271 and I like to have my engine up to warm before running at highway speeds.

As for the Mars system I may just have to try it out and see how it works. I am going to replace it maybe next spring but I am not sure yet.
