WC Weekend Accomplishments....

>Good Morning Everyone,

Sorry, but I've been MIA from the forum for about 2 weeks now due to the extreme workload at the "day job". Things have settled a bit and I'm acutally getting a couple of days off. Sure is nice to have some time off.

The computer desk is done (except for the rubbing out), but the customer said they want it like it is, so he came by here Saturday afternoon and picked up all the pieces of the desk except for the 3' by 8' piece, which was too long to fit inside his vehicle. I'll be taking that to him sometime today. I'll get pictures once he has it all assembled and setup like he wants it and then I'll post the pics.

I'm gearing up for an oval kitchen table and a baby dressing table/dresser for some friends of our that will be having their first baby in a few weeks. I'll be working on the table and the dresser at the same time, but I have to finish the dressing table/dresser first as they will finish it themselves to match the paint in the baby's room.

After that? I'm getting back into woodturning and then into some furniture projects for our home that I've been putting on hold for almost a year now.

It's time for another cup of coffee and another log on the fire.

>. . . at the Woodworking Show in Atlanta. Several sellers I'd been seeing for years weren't there, and the whole show seemed smaller. Had a mystery-meat sandwich (label said it was turkey) on Friday--they could do without THAT for future shows. I did pick up a Grex pinner, which I'm hoping will improve a few operations. (Anybody want to buy a not-much-used Senco?)

Started New Bedroom Suite.

I created at least one cloud of dust which hung overf the shopp all weekend, despite the combined efforts of shop vac, DC and Air Cleaner. I had to S4S and dimension some more cherry in preparation for the two night stands for our new bedroom suite. I got about 2/3 of the requirement completed, save for the internal dust covers and drawer supports, and bottom skirts. I glued up what I had done and will resume making the furniture tomorrow. I was attacked by the skin alergy again and had to stand-down yesterday. My #3 son came over with #5 grandson (7months old)to mill and fetch some oak shelf supports for his truck. He used the last of Malcolm Timber's oak. We only had three kids attending the family dinner party last night, so spent the evening watching Public TV. Have a gbreat week.

>On Sunday, I finally got to take the new bathroom floor for a test drive. We had installed one of the SunTouch warming pads under the slate.

The slate is from the original roof on the cabin, which we removed 20 years ago when we expanded the house. I got the slate down early last week and then put in the colored glass and grout. By Sunday the masonry was dry enough to hook up the warming mat.

While some members of the family prefer it more than others (see pic,) I think it's pretty decadent. At the same time, I wouldn't go back to an unwarmed floor. Talk about mixed feelings!
