Some people need clarity....

>I can remember finding myself, on at least two occasions in the last tens years, having a conversation something like this:
Me: "... then I made the little caboose out of walnut."
Them: "Wow, Walnut Wood?"
Me: "Yes, Walnut wood..... the shells are too small and brittle." (no, I wasn't THAT sarcastic... I didn't mention the shells.... just thought about saying it
I've mentioned making things out of cherry, walnut and maple, and have had people ask if I mean the wood, I guess as opposed to the fruit, the nut, the shell, the bark, the leaves, whatever. Perhaps it's because people know that we make crafts and things too and they think we might have used something other than the wood.
Do that word association game with alot of people, where you say a word and they say the first word that comes to mind, and maple, cherry and walnut will likely be followed by: syrup, leaf, strawberry, almond.... and some people that will just respond: ice cream, ice cream, ice cream to each of them.
Happy Woodworking!
