>So far down I thought I better raise it. Randy the house was on the SW corner, 1801. My dad had it built about 1927. Was a nice place that has since been modified some, not for the better.(G) The side porch had sistern underneath for rainwater and a pump at the kitchen sink so the rainwater could be used for washing the ladies hair, etc. Had an in ground garbage can with a step on lid in the back. I built a trap door in the kitchen floor with a chain for raising it that had a chute beneath that took trash and kitchen sweepings to a bin in the basement. My Mom loved that. My toddler kid brother made the trip down one day and scared everyone to death, but no harm done. Many memories there.
