Table with butterfly

>A post some ways down (because I screwed up my profile and couldn't post yesterday, --Thanks, Ellis, for the help.--) asked about inserting a butterfly in a turning to cover a problem. Reminded me of this modified shaker occasional table I made fifteen or so years ago from claro walnut. A nice one piece top that had a knot with an ugly crack 1/8" wide needed some help. I was going to fill it with silver but an artist at a juried show I was at convinced me that one should use wood with wood and I succumbed. I used a maple butterfly to cover the crack and figured that since the top support's through-the-apron tenons were wedged with maple that it was a match (G)What a rational! The top is fastened with screws through holes on one side of the suppots and through slotted holes on the other. Simple table but it does look good.
