shop heater

>My 1.5 stall garage is presently my woodshop. I have a straw bed dog kennel against the back wall. Anyone have suggestions for a heating method. My concern is open flame with sawdust and minimum clearance. I've got room on the back wall for electric or radiant heat sources or even propane. The garage doesn't have to be heated constantly either. Just when in use.

>I live in TN where we don't get near as cold. My garage walls, ceiling and garage doors are all insulated and I get by with electric space heaters. Blow any dust out with the compressor to keep them clean and there is no open flame. I have used them for years and they work very well.

>I also live in Tennessee. I heat my garage shop with either Propane or kerosene heater. I do clean the shop regularly so there isn't much dust and chips around. I keep a 3 foot area around the heater clean and free of anything combustable. I've been doing this for 7 years with no problem.

>John,

Thanks for the note on your heater experience. Do you have a floor model or wall mounted? With or w/o fan? Small or large tank, inside or out? Someone brough up the idea of running gas to the garage, but that seems unfeasible since it is all on the opposide end of the house. I think I'd just rather do a tank.
