>It depends.........a lot of schools in NYS have gone to the 3rd week in April no matter when Easter falls. There are schools that still take spring break around Easter. This year our district has good friday off April 6th and the following week after Easter off, which is the 2nd week in April.

I don't think there's just ONE week anymore

Mark Goodall - ATL - tooljunkie

>Schools here recently added a "winter break" so there's a week off at the end of February as well as "spring break" in April.

And every county decides which week to take so there's no ONE week that everyone has off at the same time.

Mardi Gras in New Orleans is one specific time, but the spring break debauchery in Florida spans several weeks from end of February till end of April.

it lasts at least 4 weeks

>we used to go to Daytona Beach, and we had the first week (before the townies hated the kids, but right at the end of Bike Week.)

It raged on for 3 weeks after too.

Check the MTV website to see when and where they set up this year and you'll get a good idea of where you don't want to be.

>Might be worth calling or emialing some hotels where you are going and asking them. We head to Florida a couple of times a year and we have never had a problem late April or early May. Sometimes it is still just a hair cool, but not usually. Hope you enjoy your trip.

>I agree, My college spring break was in early March since school was done in early May. My breaks while while in grade and high school were always around Easter (usually the week following). It's likely that throughout March and April, someone will be on break there.

>When I was looking into Padre island they said the last three weeks of march. April looked pretty clear as some of the snow birds were packing up. Been thinkinf that maybe we will blow off the beach this year and head to the smokies? What ever we do we want to do it before school is out. No kids and like the quiet.

>The district I work for has Mar 12-16 this year. Other local districts take the week before or after. Colleges in Texas are close to this time.

>Rod Peterson lives in Ormond Beach .It is just north of Daytona Beach and he knows when it is safe to stay in town. There is a big car club down there this weekend tearing up the place and racing on the beach. I belive they call it the Rolls Royce Club. A roudy bunch for sure.
