Modifying the General TS switch?

Bri in Mtl

>Can the switch on my 250 cabinet saw be modified so that I don't have to rotate the OFF button first in order to hit the ON button?

I want to install a knee board of some kind that covers the switch. Most have a hole so you can reach in and push the ON button but the hassle of having to lift the board and turning the OFF button each time doesn't make it worth it imo.

TIA

>The start button is just a momentary contact button which energizes the coil.

Once it has engaged, the power goes from the line IN through the off button, back through the coil, down through each of the heater disconnects, then back to the neutral, or other hot if it is 220. All of this is in series, and any number of off switches can be added anywhere along this circuit, as long as they are kept in series.

Is this permissable?

Anyone see anything wrong with doing this?

I simply made a wood spacer that lets the OFF button only go in halfway.
