Dad's first Drill-press restore finally finished

Bart Leetch

>I built a base & covered it with laminate for the drill-press with a drawer & place for the switch & painted & mounted another motor. I intend to build a wider wood table for it about as wide as the base which is about 16 1/2" I only have just so much room anything bigger will be drilled on the floor model drill-press.

Nice Job, Bart

>Bart,

That's a good looking drill press. What kind is it? It looks like a Walker Turner, but the empblem on the front doesn't look like a Walker Turner emblem.

I'm still working on the Walker Turner I'm restoring. I got it up and running, but it sounded terrible. I finally sent the motor to Jeff Hoffman at Walker Turner Serviced Machinery in Connecticut to be rewound. They found it was full of mud dauber wasp nests and the capacitor was broken. They have also done some work on the main pulley/bearing assembly to elininate some slop. I can't wait to get it back together and running. I hope it looks as good as yours.
