>Ok, got the pics. I was wrong about the length-it's only 36" and I haven't seen the rest so it's all in question now. Knowing what species it is would be my first Q. Some say NOT manzanita. OK. What then? It's very hard, dense, heavy, sorta dry to cut, and a little redder than the pic shows. I'm not sure if it wouldn't be better to make veneer out it so I'm posting this here and in Turning. It supposedly came from AZ. (It took a while to get this pic because I also made a movie of the rip cut; wherein the blade guides were fully retracted, the pinch rollers removed, the usual low tension, and the cut came out perfectly flat. I'll be posting the movie on my website in a few days so anybody who doubts the power of a reset blade can see for themselves.)
