Plans for silverware chest

Mark (around Chicago)

>I'm looking for plans for a silverware/flatware chest. I have searched & found one at American, but it would be nice to have a few to pick from. Does anyone know of any books that may have plans for this type of chest?

Neal in San Jose

>I Googled "silverware chest plans" and got dozens of hits. I checked out the first one, which was for Rockler's free plans site.

Look at Lee Valley's

Charles R. Smith

>Lee Valley has a plan and an accompanying hardware kit, which are shown on their web site. I bought the plan some years ago and liked it.

Krenov did a series of them

Miles

>There is a lovely silver chest in 'The Impractical Cabinetmaker' book that Krenov wrote. There aren't plans as such, but there is plenty of detail on how it was made. What is so good is to see how he made use of the available wood and mingled veneer and solid. I'd love to graduate to even comtemplating work of this level one day!

Even if you go another route, I highly receommend a look at this one.

Here's one I made

Lee Schierer - McKean, PA

>I made a silver case for my son and his wife a couple of years ago. We looked at various styles and came up with a design she liked. The top section liftted up and there was a drawer under that for large items. I have a dimensioned cad drawing of it.
