>First of all, he has the blades so he could measure the angle.
Second, if can't figure the first one out I don't think he should be sharpening blades. Much cheaper to outsource them.
Third, if it's a typical lunchbox planer the blades aren't meant to be resharpened. Typically they are double sided and if sharpened you change your registration in most cases and it won't work properly.

>double sided and they are meant to be sharpened. I had no trouble honing mine by hand and they are not difficult to sharpen if you use your eyes and hands as God intended. If you are not willing to learn the skills then send them out but even that doesn't assure they will be properly sharpened. I have had them come back with a decided curve along the length. I try to sharpen my own.
