I wish I had thought enough to announce something here to calm the worries. I appreciate the concern. We stayed up late last night beacuse of all the tornados and then had to rush around to get to school and work this morning..... and I just got home now and didn't see this post.
Last week, the kids spent a couple of afternoons at school during the tornado warnings..... kneeling on the floor pressed up against the inner building walls with their arms crossed over the backs of their necks. This is standard procedure in schools when there are tornados in the area. My littlest (at 5 years old) spent 45 minutes crouched down like that, staying as low and still as possible..... they are braver than I realized. I can't get them to sit still for 5 minutes normally, but at school with a tornado warning it's different.
Last evening my son's soccer game was cut short because of the dense fog, storm and tornado warning. We rushed home in a downpour and huddled with the girls in front of the TV watching the weather crisis channel. My wife had prepared the emergency room (pantry in the center of the house) with pillows and blankets and we thought we might be sleeping the night in there. We listened and watched the news and the tornado's came east over Coweta county, and headed towards us (Peachtree City in Fayette county) county, but somehow went around us. Areas directly south and west of use had reported tornado's but everything stopped short of us.
The kids were nervous but enjoyed the excuse to stay up late. Once they downgraded the status we all went to bed and slep the rest of the night peacefully.
My workshop and tools? We'll that's another story for another post (soon), but what really matters is that my family and I were absolutely fine.
Thanks for the concern!
Happy Woodworking!
Glad to Hear That, Mark

>We live in a tornado prone area (Jarrell, TX is less than 20 miles away) and get watches and warnings fairly frequently. Had tornado sited about 10 miles away before New Year's; daughter was caught out in the middle of one in Waco last year (but safe).
We bought an area-specific NOAA weather radio that will alarm and report watches and warnings in our specific region. The first one we bought wasn't area-specific and soon was discarded because it cried 'wolf' too often. Wasn't but about $25 but worth a ton more for peace of mind. We go to bed now and rely on the radio to wake us if storms are imminent. You might want to consider this if your area is getting hammered.

>Great. Everytime I hear news, etc, of something to do with Peachtree City, I think of you and wonder how you are doing.
You know living in central GA or Alabama, just about everytime we have a decent rain, we also have the tornado warnings, and it is hard not to get complacent about it.
Glad you and yours are in goood shape.
