You need to tell us more

>"Strip ipe wood" isn't enough. Stripping pertains to finishes, usually. Are you saying that you have finished some ipe wood and now need to strip off the old finish? If so, have you tried paint stripper?

Wonder if It's a Stain on an Ipe Deck?

>Maybe something spilled and discolored the wood. I've never worked with ipe but from looking as deck boards it looks as if it might be resistant to the kinds of staining that I'd expect on redwood.

>I have some recent direct experience with this one. I put down a new ipe floor on our back porch last spring and stained/finished it with a linseed-oil based stain/finish from Benjamin Moore Paints. It took way too long to dry, although the conditions were okay and the wood was clean and dry when I applied it. Four days later, it was still gummy, and by this time full of bugs and other debris. I had no choice but to strip it and start over. You can imagine I was not happy about this.
Anyhow, I went back to the paint store and got a two-part stripper product made for just this application. The chemicals are pretty noxious, and they didn't do a very good or thorough job. It took me a couple applications, and I had to do a lot of scraping with a modified garden chopper.
If this is your situation, candys2006sn, all I can say is that you have a chore ahead. I'd try a regular paint stripper first.
