Question regarding lazar cutting guides.

>Can anyone tell me how accurate these things are. I'd kinda like to try one but I'm pretty picky. When I cut to a line I cut exactly to that line, not on it or through it but right up to it. On critical work I scribe the line with a knife. It seems like the thickness of the lazer line would have to exactly the blade thicknes with really clean edges to give this kind of accuracy.

The same would be for drilling. I put a very small center hole and wonder if the crossed lazars would give me as fine a point.

>I have only used the ones on a miter saw or SCMS. In my experience they are not as accurate as you require. When I want one like you describe, I either cut it by hand, or I lower the blade on my SCMS with the saw off and line up the line with the edge of a tooth. I choose an AB tooth beveled to the line.

>I've been very impressed with the accuracy of my Delta TwinLaser (#36-255L?) 12" Miter Saw. The area between the two lasers is what the blade removes; no more, no less. Don't know how I'd get along with out it! My only complaint is that the lasers are a bit difficult to see in daylight sun. Not a problem for woodworking, which usually happens indoors where the lasers are perfectly visible, but it was a bit of a hassle during my last outdoor carpentry project.

Every other laser-based product I've tried has been completely useless! The lines end up being as fat as one made by a Sharpie marker, which isn't nearly as accurate as I'd want...
