Takes all of about 1 minute, quick scrub with brush a/o steelwool and rinse, and you blade is like new. (save the soda for the carpet)

I've been using it on my blades for years to remove the remains of cherry and other "sweet" woods as well as construction lumber and plywood. Doesn't effect the blade or the carbide, but it will remove paint. If you have a ptfe coated blade, simple detergent and a good scrub should be sufficient.

I've successfully tried:

- 409

- Simple Green

- LA's Totally Awesome

- Dawn dishwashing detergent and warm water

- Easy Off

- Goo Gone

- WD-40

- Boeshield Blade n Bit cleaner

The Easy Off was one of the messier methods, and since I've read that it's too harsh, I'll recommend all the others except that one. Any household degreaser or citrus cleaner should work. I spritz the teeth and hit them with a brass bristle brush or tooth brush. I've read that it's not good to soak them for long periods...a few minutes should do, then scrub, rinse, and wipe off.

Hose it off in the garden. Pat dry with clean paper towels. Done in 5 minues with almost no effort.

Try Castrol Super Clean. Get it at Auto Zone etc. Works great. I lay the blades in a cheap aluminum pie pan and just spray it on wait a couple minutes and brush with a tooth brush. Rinse with water and dry. Just like new.
