Kitchen Canisters
bill tindall, E. TN
>I made these for Christmas for daughters- one for sugar and the other for flour. They are designed such that the bag of sugar or flour can be simply placed in the canister and its top cut off (that's the bag or course). They solve the most annoying cooking problem that most canisters don't hold a full bag of these materials. Exasperated I made myself a set and of course daughters wanted some. They are tedious to make as they involve 20 fitted parts (including splines).
The wood is ash. Bodies are painted with Country Colors, a wonderful alternative to the diffcult to deal with milk paint. Sand to 180, paint first coat, sand smooth with 360, paint second coat, then spray everything with water white conversion varnish.
