blind shelf brackets

>I posted once before on this topic. but last time I thought I was limited to drywall. Things are looking up -- there are wall studs in the right places. For a customer, I want to make hefty wooden brackets to attach to her wall with no hardware showing. I have in mind something like a metal keyhole on the back of the bracket which would slip onto a screw head. ( But I'm posting because I bet there are better ways.) There are a couple of issues: slots will be cut through the front of brackets to hold glass shelves, and an expensive antique glass collection will sit on theses shelves. So, ... I have to be concerned that the method to hold the glass in the slots be essentially foolproof with respect to not slippping out or cracking because of unexpected stresses.

>I've used keyhole hanger brackets for shelves that held speaker boxes made from 3/4" MDF and other heavy stuf. Never had a problem. I get them at the local Ace hardware. They are morticed into the back of the bracket.
