Ring shake in bacterially infected logs.
I had some white oak logs milled this past weekend which had been bacterially infected. There was a fairly high incidence of ring shake in the lumber from those logs. I seem to remember reading that this is common, but one experienced woodworker that I know seems to think that it is not. Any input here would be welcomed.
Also, as a result of the sawyer getting carried away with his work, I have 15 pieces of 3" X 3" X 10' hickory instead of the 4 or 5 that I wanted for table legs. Any suggestions on what to do with square stock like this?
