My Wife, Rescue worker on the front lines.
The events of last Tuesday have touched all of us in one way or another. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of the rescue workers on the scene who gave their lives and continue to risk their lives in the service of their fellow citizens.
There are rescue operations continuing on other levels as well. Since Wednesday Sept 12th, my wife, as part of her job as a case manager and provider for a mental health insurance company, has been handling as many as 50 crisis calls a day. These are mostly calls from clients directly affected by the tragedy, people who have lost loved ones and are looking for mental health professionals to help them through these unimaginable difficulties. She hears these stories all day long, husbands and wives lost, aunts, uncles, friends, business associates, the list of anguished cries goes on and on. Two of their accounts are Morgan Stanley and American Airlines, two companies who lost scores of employees in the attacks as well as many other small companies housed in the twin towers. She is tired, sad, overloaded, worried but unbowed.
I love her very much.
