That Wood Work  Dan Donaldson, a long time contributer to this sight, is my father. I have worked with him on many projects, and have learned a lot from him throughout my life. The first major woodworking project that I have done by myself was building my father's casket. I got many of my dad's tools after he passed away, and the woodworking bug has got me bad. I love being in my modest shop. I have found that I really love working with hand tools, as this allows me to feel more connected with the wood I am working, and allows me to feel more in control of what is going on (the Delta Unisaw I got from my dad's shop scares the poop out of me). So having been in the shop, practicing, learning, experimenting, and loving working wood, for the past several months, I can finally call myself a 'woodworker' (Hi, my name is Mike, and I am a woodworker).  This site is the place that I come to learn more, see what people who actually know what they are doing say about how to solve problems, and I have come to value the relationships that I have been forming here.  Professionally, I am the Environmental Health and Safety Manager for a chemical company headquartered in Minneapolis, MN. I am responsible for all regulatory compliance at all 39 facilities in 18 states, so unfortunately, I don't get much time in the shop.  I am married to the most amazing woman in the world, and have been thus blessed for the past 15 years, and we have four daughters.
