LL Johnson's Lumber, in Charlotte MI, will hold its annual Wood Expo on September 5th and 6th. The show is free, as is parking. There are lumber specials, pro-level instructors on a variety of subjects, machine demos and sales, even some freebees. Here is a link to the Expo information: https://www.theworkbench.com. There is usually a food truck on site and a town festival just down the road.

#2looks like a nice place to buy lumber. Sitting here in the middle of Appalachia, I can't find anywhere local other than individuals who would match those prices.

#3The company has been around, and in the same family, for more than 100 years. They started out harvesting the local hard maple for the furniture industry in Grand Rapids. They have diversified over the years, including tropical hardwoods, for the Lake Michigan wooden boat builders. Those industries died out but they have managed to stay profitable, and generous, as implied by their free shows over the years. I've been buying here for 45 years and they are always welcoming to the small shops and amateur wood workers like me, as well as the large shops that are probably their backbone customers.
