Simple chair

I like this for some reason. Doesn't look too comfortable and I wouldn't want to have to sit in it for an extended period, but I like the minimalist design using an unconventional structure. And it looks like it could be made without any fasteners, just dowels maybe? A good project for someone with no experience and few tools, maybe just a some kind of saw and a drill. And some clamps to glue the seat.

Along these (unconventional) lines, I have long contemplated building a dining table suspended from the ceiling. Cleaning under the table and chairs is always a pain, involving moving chairs out, then trying to sweep or vacuum around the legs. A design from before we understood gravity and how to defeat it IMO. Just get rid of the legs and hang it from the ceiling! Put these chairs on it while cleaning. And then throw a mattress on it and gently sway yourself to sleep at night whilst dreaming of my mother once singing to me

Rock-a-bye baby, on the treetop,
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock.
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall,
And down will come baby, cradle and all.

Was never sure if that was meant to soothe or threaten me. ;)

No more shin or knee-banging on the trestle or aprons if the table is hung well.

We would have to change our seating arrangements.  The left-handed folks would have to sit on the right and the right-handed folks would have to sit on the left to keep the straps from interfering with shoveling the food in.  That could change our whole family dynamic!!!  :P

Suggested modification: Hang a mirror ball under the center of the table.  When it is retracted to the ceiling, you have your dance floor ready for DISCO!!  I can hear Donna Summer's voice already (not to be confused with Taylor Swift).

What have you been smoking ?
Your supposed to stub it out when you reach the toilet paper roll.
Joking aside the concept does have merit.
It's very Bauhaus. Very masochistic..
But after a few German beers I will consider any proposition.

Re the table, it's really not so daft an idea and if you hang it by three cables you get the tripod effect of maximum stability and no need for fine adjustment. I did consider this concept for a go bar press. A very old school
Clamping system very popular still with musical instrument makers for gluing soundboard bars and bridges. It's actually the only way to do it.
If you need cheap solid square thread to adjust the height buy some scaffolding jacks.
