#2MT Forster bits

>I have been searching for a source of 2 to 3 inch diameter Forster bits with a Morse taper shaft and an over-all length of 16". I have not found a source on one ready made but I have found a company that will make them. I'll have to have a rather large number made to get the cost reasonable. Anyone else interested in these?

>Yes, but I would have a greater desire for them in the 1-2" range. Still, I'd hardly pass up the opp to spend money on an unusual, expensive, and rarely used tool.

Give them a call. They have more than what is shown on their Website.

>I bought a No. 2 MT extension. It's 8 or 9 inches long and was available from a machinist supply catalog. There were several lengths available and several brands, ranging from about $8 up to about $20. I find it very handy for putting the live center against a turning and keeping the tail stock out of the way. It's male on one end and female on the other. I think you could get them in any combination of taper sizes, but I have a 2 to 1 adapter and use that when I need it.

If you can find shorter bits this would stretch them out. Its about and 1 1/4" in diameter. As long as you bit is bigger than that, you could string together as many as you wanted. If you are drilling a hole larger than the chuck, you could just use a chuck with a MT taper and use a regular bit. I bet you can get a No. MT that is threaded to receive your chuck.

I can post a picture if you want. A machinist ordered it for me and I could find out exactly where it came from.
