>I am posting a photo of a stopper that I have turned from a piece of Yew mounted on one of Ruth's stainless stopper bases.

SWMBO does not like the shorter bases, what do you think? Perhaps the wooden part of the stopper should be shorter to reflect the shorter base?

>I like it and if I start turning stoppers again will order some. If you have a wine bottle handy why not post a side by side photo with a regular base and one of Ruth's?

>To me the base is functional and dissapears in the bottle and the top is decorative. How does it look when it is being used in the bottle ? Yo me that would be more important. Here I have never had the use for one as there is never any wine left.

>Wow, this really shows the difference. Ruth's stopper is much nicer. It takes away that top heavy look.

Thanks for the side by side.

>As soon as I finish my top-shelf bottle of Mad Dog 20/20, I'm going to design a sterling silver stopper to fit screw-top wine bottles! : )

>Ruth,

MD 20/20 is a little highbrow for us... does anyone know how to get the DN out of the DNA?

>Ruth, I am already working on it!!! Not that you can't....I sat back after one of our emails and thought, OK, so what can I design...and so I have been working on a few differnt designs to take several turnings.

Again, not that it stops anyone else from going at it, variety is the spice of life.....

>When I was a kid, the bums down in the railroad jungle used to pour the canned heat through a loaf of bread to "make it safe". We know this doesn't work, but somehow most of them got by without succumbing to the experience. This is another "Don't try this at home"

>Not to hi-jack this thread, but one thing I've noted in my work on a few stoppers... "Most are to tall to fit it fridge or wine cooler when stopping a bottle" .. Maybe I am just an uninformed wine wannabe but I can't see anything but GOOD in Ruth's design!
