>Just the mention of this wood makes some turners excited. I picked up a few pieces at the aaw symposium in Orlando, waiting for the right time to use it....

A new project calls for pink ivory, so I turned my first batch. Now I know why people like this stuff so much.....just beautiful wood to work with. Not as hard and dense as African Blackwood, about the same as holly. I noticed it is a bit brittle, but cuts cleanly and sands to a deep luster. this has to be one of my favorites!

I post a photo when completed.....

I got some last year, too, turned several bottle stoppers (1 1/4" sq. x 8" long pieces). I turned them about 3 months ago and they still look pink. Should I be expecting a change?

I wish you could see the stuff my Friend Brad Sells brought to be photographed. He went to Africa to harvest some pink Ivory and other African Woods. it is some georgeous stuff. I may see if I can get the photos next week and post a couple.

>I'm like Ruth! I haven't experienced a pronounced color differential, and have quite a few pieces out there using Pink Ivory. Please elaborate.
