So thanks to the friendly, open, and more importantly, completely frank discussion here, and a good local dealer, I am now the proud owner of a new Stihl MS250. Total time at the dealer: 12 minutes, and I'm on my way. I LOVE easy retail transactions!

The dealer from whom I've been buying stuff over the years has been pretty good about steering me away from 'gadget features'. I go to them to get good, honest, hardworking tools that I don't need to replace very often.
